These are Dad’s favorite chocolate chip cookies. Mom makes them all the time and always has them on hand.
While the recipe calls for all-purpose flour, Mom uses half white whole wheat flour. White whole wheat flour has all the nutritional benefits of whole wheat, but a lighter color than traditional red whole wheat flour. Look for the words “White Whole Wheat Flour” on the packaging when purchasing your whole wheat flour.
Mom uses a cookie scoop to get the consistent size when making these cookies. Cookie scoops come in several different sizes, and you can use whichever size you want, depending on the size of the cookies you want to end up with. I used a 1 1/2 tablespoon sized scoop.
I’ve also made these cookies with Reeseās Pieces candies on top. The peanut butter flavor of the candies adds a new twist to these cookies. Check out my recipe for Reese’s Pieces Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Makes about 6 dozen cookies, 3″ diameter.
