Quick & Easy Muffuletta | FourSistersEat

A Muffuletta is a popular sandwich in New Orleans, Louisiana. The term Muffuletta can also be used to describe the bread this sandwich is served on. This recipe simplifies these Italian sandwiches by serving the olive dressing, meats and cheeses on English muffins instead of the traditional Muffuletta bread.

I don’t eat green olives, so I just made my Olive Dressing with black olives.

To make the Sandwiches

Note: Use as much or as little of the olive dressing as you like. I have also put it and some Italian dressing on both halves, and sometimes put the cheese next to the dressing so that it melts into the bread.

Muffuletta

Simplified Italian sandwiches served on English muffins instead of the traditional Muffuletta bread.

Ingredients

Olive Dressing

  • 1 jar (5.75 oz.) pimento-stuffed green olives
  • 1 can (6 oz.) black olives
  • 1 clove garlic pressed
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion (only needs to be chopped in order to measure, if you want to guess, you can put in chunks)

Sandwiches

  • 6 English muffins
  • Creamy Italian dressing to taste
  • Italian seasoning to taste
  • Fresh ground pepper to taste
  • 12 slices Canadian Bacon
  • 18-24 pieces pepperoni
  • 1/4 pound thin-sliced turkey or salami
  • 6 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 6 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

Olive Dressing

  • Chop in food processor on “chop” setting to make coarse mixture.

Sandwiches

  • Spread the top of the muffin with olive dressing until you can’t see any bread except around the edges.
  • Spread the bottom piece with Italian dressing.
  • Sprinkle liberally with herbs and pepper.
  • Layer meats, putting some on the top and some on the bottom, adding cheese to each, after meats.
  • Broil both halves separately until cheese is melted and browned, about 4-5 minutes. Watch carefully!
  • Flip top half over onto bottom half and enjoy.
